Pregnancy Journey

Wednesday Weekly Weigh-In: Pregnancy Edition- Week 37

37 weeks, with only 20 days left to go until Jr. expected arrival. This week has consisted of more frequent doctors appointments and ultrasounds as we prepare. I was shocked to find out that Jr. estimated weight is currently 7 lbs and 1 oz. With still a little over 2 weeks left to go until his due date he is weighing in bigger than anticipated. Overall he is measuring a little over 1 week and a few days bigger than my due date prediction. This has really caused us to be prepare for his arrival any day now in the coming week or so.

37 Week Milestones & Current Events:

  • Baby is the size of a Honeydew Melon
  • Measuring about 20 inches long and currently weights 7 lbs and 1 oz (per ultrasound)
  • Baby is fully developed
  • Baby is practicing his breathing preparing for life outside the womb
  • Baby’s reflexes are strengthening in order for him to grip Mommy and Daddy’s fingers
  • Mommy’s appetite is beginning to pick up
  • Cravings: Hershey Bars, Fruit Punch Powerade, Cantaloupe, Burger King Chicken Nuggets or Chicken Fries

At 37 weeks, I weigh in today at 177 lbs. 7 lbs of which we can account to Jr. Still, waiting to see at my next appointment on Friday to see if I have dilated. I have started eating dates which are known to be good for pregnancy and moms have been encouraged to eat 6-8 dates per day after 36 weeks in order to help soften your cervix. Studies show that women who eat dates late in pregnancy often have a smoother and shorter labor. I am crazy enough to test this out. I will be sure to update you on my experience as we approach delivery.

Mom Life, Pregnancy Journey

Pregnancy: Week 31 (Update)

Today I had a repeat ultrasound to measure Jr. ❤ and ensure that he is growing well. It’s safe to say that despite me losing body fat in my arms and legs and only gaining a few pounds during this pregnancy- Jr. is packing on his baby fat well. At this rate Jr. is going to be chunky. My OB/GYN predicted correctly- babies are like parasites and they will take everything from you. I wasn’t too worried because my belly seems to be getting bigger and bigger by the second.

Here is a profile picture of Jr. ❤ – Look at those cheeks:

Jr’s Face Profile

This is the best profile picture the tech was able to get today. Apparently, our little bean is in position (head down) and his head is deeply lodged into my pelvis. This was not a shocker since I have been experiencing an increase in pelvic pressure over the past two days. To explain, it feels like I have a yoni egg the size of a soft ball between my legs. I heard the more kids you have, the harder it is to carry since your muscles weaken with each pregnancy. Not sure, how true this is. (Mother of multiples? Share your opinion in the comments)

31 weeks & 4 days

At 31 weeks and 4 days, Jr. is measuring 33 weeks and 6 days. I definitely will be packing my hospital bag this weekend just to be safe. I have been experiencing more frequent braxton hicks but nothing too concerning. I feel like a professional at this point and can not be fooled by false alarms. With our first Andrew and I had so many false alarms. I think we were just overly excited and overly anticipated our first daughter, Abigail’s arrival. Andrew will always remember the one time he ran a red light to get to me because I thought I was in labor with Abigail. (hahaha. . . he still has the red light camera picture and ticket invoice that he is saving for her to repay when she gets a job lol)

With our second daughter, Hope at 34 weeks I knew the morning that I woke up to go to my doctors appointment that it would be the day she would arrive. I really believe as a woman you have the capability of being so in-tuned with your body, especially during pregnancy that you know when the time has come. So, Hope’s arrival was of no surprise for me.

For this third go around I am just riding the wave and we all are patiently waiting for Jr. to make his appearance in the next month or so.

Due date: 5/14/19 – Comment below a guess of the date Jr. will arrive

Pregnancy Journey

Wednesday Weekly Weigh-In: Pregnancy Edition – Week 31

Today marks only 62 more days to go! We simply cannot wait to meet our little Jr. On Sunday, Andrew worked diligently to assemble the crib without instructions. We came close to not being able to finish, as we thought we had lost some screws over the years. Luckily, I was able to locate the missing screws in our junk drawer. I am famous for tossing miscellaneous items, so it definitely was a blessing that I held on to those particular screws. The baby’s room is all set and ready for his arrival in the coming weeks. The new baby mattress was delivered today. All, that is really left are a few necessity items on our Target baby registry.

We have decided to plan the baby shower for after Jr. arrival since March-April are very busy months for our family, filled with multiple birthdays. For the baby shower we will be requesting guests to bring a book to help build Jr. library. One thing we have learned from having multiple children is the difference between what is necessary and what is not. For our first daughter, Abby we were so overwhelmed with gifts and appreciated them all. We were even able to pass items down to our second daughter, Hope. Our registry with Jr., is far more simpler as we know what items we really will use and what items we more than likely will not. We are definitely looking forward to sharing our blessing with you all once he makes his debut.

31 Week Milestones & Current Events:

  • Baby is the size of a Coconut
  • Measuring about 17 1/2 inches and weigh a little over 3.5 lbs
  • Baby still has about 3-5 more lbs to gain in the coming weeks
  • Baby is becoming more flexible in his neck and joints
  • Baby is sleeping for longer durations – until I drink or eat something sweet 🙂
  • Mommy is experiencing frequent episodes of shortness of breath due to the crowding of the growing baby around my lungs
  • Lower back pain is on the rise once again
  • It is getting more and more difficult to get comfortable at night and fall asleep (Hubby uses half of my body pillow for his own comfort)

With only two months to go, I plan to pack my hospital bag this weekend. I rather be over-prepared than under-prepared. I delivered our oldest at a little over 40 weeks; she simply was not ready. Our second daughter came early at 34 weeks, not to much of a surprise for me since I woke up that morning to go to my appointment and I honestly felt like I could not carry her another day it was so much weight that I was carrying with her. I heard that once you have had multiples, labor comes faster. (myth? or nah?)

Now on to the part you all have been reading for… today I weighed in at 172.4 lbs. At my OB/GYN appointment last week my doctor is not concerned with my minimal weight gain. It’s very clear that baby is like a parasite and is taking everything from me for his own selfish benefit. The only thing getting bigger on me is my belly, which is a great reminder that baby is growing well. I am otherwise losing weight/fat in my arms and legs. Hopefully, it will be easy for me to reach my pre-pregnancy weight after delivery. Breastfeeding definitely helps with this process. I am looking forward to Friday as I will have another Ultrasound to confirm baby is in the correct position and to get a more accurate weight estimate of baby. At my last Ultrasound baby was measuring about 1.5 week bigger than what aligns with my predicted due date of 5/14. I will continue to keep you all posted!
